I Got Tagged And Now I’m It!

Published by admin under General

First, thank you to Mark at Caveman Cooking for putting me in this little glitch of answering questions about myself.  Luckily they are things I’m not afraid to share about myself so I don’t have to share with you all my sordid and steamy past.  Actually, my life isn’t that exciting and I’ve never had a [...]

Dressing (and biking) for cold, office and evening

Published by admin under General

Santa and Frosty approved transport and outfit. Today after work I have plans to meet a friend for dinner and a movie, so I had to dress for the commute to work, for meetings at the office and wear something comfortable for the evening out. Since it was warmer (20 degrees F) when I left [...]

Holiday gift idea: biking around the world

Published by admin under General

If your favorite someone doesn’t have enough vacation to take a 26,000 mile bike ride, you can still give them a velovicarious around the globe thrill via the book Falling Uphill by local lad Scott Stole.  You can order the print version if you can’t give up Gutenberg, or purchase an e-Book and save a tree. Single Digits Suit

Published by admin under General

I described how I typically dress for the cold and work in my post “Baby it’s cold outside” a couple of days ago. My goal in all seasons is to dress in a way that appears accessible and relatively effortless in the hopes that other people might want to give biking for transportation a try.  To that end, [...]

Santas on the naughty list or veloscrooge comment?

Published by admin under General

Is the Santa Cycle Rampage the wrong way to spread holiday cheer and introduce people to riding bicycles in the winter? The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin received the comment below on their Facebook page as a result of posting Santa Rampage info: “Not sure I can get behind this one. I nearly crashed my bike on [...]

Baby its cold outside

Published by admin under General

Studded tires are mandatory for this route. …but I’m still riding my bike and feeling pretty comfortable.   Monday it was in the single digits actual temperature when I left for my 7 mile commute to work.  From bottom to top, here is what I wore: Feet: LL Bean side zip boots that look enough like shoe boots so [...]

Woodlands

Published by admin under General

Assorted Appetizer Why is  it that, in every city I go to, the vegetarian Indian restaurant is named Woodlands?  A mystery for another time, my friends.  Because now is the time to talk about delicious Indian food. I went to Woodlands with two highly skeptical non-vegetarian friends, only one of whom was actually familiar with [...]

Saturday’s Santas

Published by admin under General

This was the 10th anniversary of the Santa Cycle Rampage in Milwaukee.  There were more Santas than ever.  I counted 200 bicycles at one point, and Lakefront Brewery handed out over 300 cups to Santas (one per Santa) as they entered the brewery. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinal guessed “several hundred” for their photo coverage. The video at the [...]

Taco Mamacita

Published by admin under General

Hold onto your panties, kids, because I’m back and this is an update.  There’s no good reason for my absence as of late, so let’s not dwell on it and get to the food, okay?  It’s freezing right now and snowing a lot, so what could be better than TACOS? Have you been to Taco [...]
